=== MSSQL For Wordpress ===
Contributors: Aizu Ikmal Ahmad & Iwani Khalid
Requires at least: 2.3.0
Tested up to: 2.7.1
Development Status: Alpha
Database Abstraction Class: ezSQL by Justin Vincent (http://php.justinvincent.com)

How to install MS-SQL support for Wordpress

1. Download this version of Wordpress ( http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.7.1-IIS-RC1.zip ) preferably
2. Then, upload it on your webhosting that supports MSSQL and IIS like how you would usually do it
3. Download our Magic Plugin at ( http://code.google.com/p/wordpress-mssql/ )
4. Then upload that db.php to your wp-contents folder
5. Edit the MSSQL database setting in db.php file according to your MSSQL settings
6. You're done :D

At this moment, this workaround works for these functions, to where we have debugged and tested

  • Basic submit, edit, manage posts and pages
  • Comments system
  • Dynamic sidebar
  • Changing themes
  • Installing plugins
  • Long text retrieval

What we didn't have time to debug

  • Pagination
  • Categories > Posts retrieval
  • Dates / Time of posts
  • Others which we look forward to debug later :D

We truly enjoyed every bit of experience that we gained in this competition. It was truly a challenge to finish this task! We wish we could have done more and more! But anyhow, we will surely continue the development of this project for the love and support for open-source community and Wordpress! Eventhough the competition is already over

Thank you to all our voters! And thank you to the participants, and committee for this great contest!!!

Rationale of methods used

Our biggest aim for this competition is to ensure that the migrated version of our app should be easy and flexible to upgrade and update in the future. Our main strategy was NOT to touch any of the core files, coding and structure of the Wordpress app. Which is why building a bridge plugin is the way we went for to make Wordpress compatible with MSSQL

A quick explanation

  • We're using MSSQL Server Management Studio to connect Lamp2Win server to browse dataabse contents
  • Of course we love Notepad++
  • We developed our debugging console which is on the top-right of the screenshot - to assist us in SQL calls debugging faster and more effectively - http://tretinoin.dev.lamp2win.com/debug/
  • Our working time is 1am to 6am nothing more nothing less hehehe
  • Inspired by the-soon-to-be Siti Nurhaliza of indie, Yunalis playlist playing throughout the whole competition!
  • Our Database Scheme Chart - view it!
